The Byre – detached, self-catering holiday cottage in stunning Mid Wales countryside.

The Byre is a characterful, detached, self-catering rural holiday cottage, ideal for walkers, cyclists/mountain biking, star-gazers, birdwatchers and anybody who loves of the great outdoors!  Spend a relaxing holiday admiring the views, appreciating the Dark Skies at night, or getting out and about on foot or by bike.

Cyclists, too will love the miles of forest tracks that can be explored, safe in the knowledge that there is plenty of room for bikes to be maintained, washed down and

stored securely onsite.

Dating back to the early 18th century, The Byre is the renovated cow shed belonging to the larger farm complex, Maes-y-Gwaelod, one of the oldest properties in the area.  The owners live in the adjacent farmhouse, and will be waiting for you when you arrive, to welcome you and answer any questions you may have.

Guests to The Byre will appreciate the large, airy double bedroom, two single bedrooms and kitchen/diner and cosy sitting room downstairs with log burner and two sofas.

 

The kitchen is well equipped for your stay, with cutlery and crockery sufficient for 4 people, a variety of useful utensils, coffee and tea pots,  microwave and ceramic hob with fan-assisted oven.

A stable door to the front allows beautiful views of the Gwennol valley and Halfway forest beyond.  East facing, it is the perfect spot to admire the sunrise over the hills, or sit in the courtyard with your morning coffee!

For quiet reflection, enjoy afternoon tea in the secluded garden area at the rear of the property.

The Byre is set up to provide you with an ideal base to explore the immediate Crychan and Halfway forests; the breathtaking Carmarthen Fans; and spectacular Brecon Beacons.

We request that guests do not smoke in the property.

There is password protected Wi-Fi available at The Byre.

When You Arrive…..

Please do let us know what time you think you will arrive at the property so that we can be there to meet you.  Arrivals after 4.00pm please (and departure by 10.00am on the day you leave, so that we can clean and restock the property between bookings).

In the kitchen, you will find a Welcome Pack of local produce, including home-made bread, cheese, butter, orange juice, milk and some eggs, from our free ranging hens. There are containers of tea, coffee, sugar and cooking oil to start off your stay.
